We're not your typical band.
R & B... Groove... funk... harmony... These are words that people don't seem to bother to use much anymore.
And for good reason. Who can blame them? Many people really don't know what these terms mean. Sure, they've heard of them. They think to themselves that they know what these words are but they just haven't heard them used in awhile. They think that these are only words that DJ's on oldies stations use in between car commercials.
Certainly none of these words are spoken in the same breath as many of the local live acts of today. Can you really remember the last time that you used one of these words to describe a Northeast Ohio band? Nothing comes to mind, does it?
Not too terribly long ago, people could go see live music that offered them more than the guitar and bass player foursome with someone shouting out lyrics. They weren't looking to just nod their heads and drink while attempting in vain to shout and be heard above it. They wanted the whole live experience - singing, dancing, a horn section, piano... a musical group.
They weren't just looking for a place to go and something to do when they got there. They were looking for a show.
Off The Record is not an oldies band. We are a seven-piece Rhythm and Blues musical ensemble that performs new music in addition to some old favorites. This is music you can dance to - music you'll be singing to yourself long after you've gone home.
